What they didn’t teach us

HORMONES & CYCLINE SYNCING

It’s come to my attention that the information on female hormones & cycle syncing on the internet is overwhelming.

What brought us to the Google search bar in the first place?

We know that we were robbed of this information in our reproductive education classes and in conversations with our primary care Docs and Gyno’s.

You’d be pleased to know we aren’t completely crazy and that we are simply built…different.

A woman’s hormone cycle lasts an average of 28 days.

(*average because women who struggle w/ PCOS, PID, thyroid issues & endometriosis can have irregular periods)

Comparatively…

A man’s hormone cycle lasts/runs on 24 hours.
– Their testosterone is highest in the AM and lowest in the PM.
– Which is in-sync with a “traditional” work day.

Whereas, we on the other hand…

A woman’s hormone cycle, not only does not run in alignment with a “traditional” work day, it also has 4 phases within those (+/-) 28 days.

Welcome to class, folks!

The *SparkNotes:
(We break this down in more detail further below, but for those of you that want it short and sweet – de nada)

What they certainly didn’t teach us is that it doesn’t have to be this terrible.

What’s happening in each phase?
What do I eat, and when?
Do I workout or do I rest?

MENSTRUAL: Days 1-5
Low estrogen & progesterone, bleeding, cramps, bloating, fatigue.

FOODS: High protein, vegetables, foods high in iron.

HERBS: Ginger (warms body, detoxes, reduces gas/bloating), Turmeric (reduces inflammation).

SUPPLEMENTS: Vitamin C (raises estrogen and lowers progesterone), Iron (supplements iron loss, improves fatigue).

ACTIVITY: Lower energy levels. Prioritize rest & relaxation, and lots of grace (yoga flow, stretching, walking).

FOLLICULAR:  Days 6-10
High estrogen & FSH, increased energy, more focus, slight increase in body temperature, glowing skin.

FOODS: Lean meats & fish, vegetables high in fiber.

HERBS: Nettle (iron), Holy basil (blood sugar), Schisandra (kidney support, stress, energy).

SUPPLEMENTS: Vitamin D3(hormone balancer), Folate (fertility & balancing), B12(regulates estrogen), Selenium (skin/hair, improves eggs health, antioxidant), K2(regulates insulin sensitivity), Kelp (supports thyroid, anti-aging, balancer).

ACTIVITY: Energy levels increase.
Go for pilates, hot/challenging yoga practices, strength training, HIIT/cardio, dancing.

OVULATORY: Days 11-20
High Estrogen, LH, & Testosterone. You’re ovulating. You can get pregnant. Potential fireworks in your ovaries (and tailbone) with an increase in energy & mood. This is when you feel your best, look your best & the whole world agrees! You are vibrating HIGH.

FOODS: Raw meats, raw vegetables, berries, high fiber foods.

HERBS: Dandelion (liver detoxifier, reduces water retention), Shatavari (boosts LH, healthy ovulation), Maca (increases energy, libido, balances estrogen), Red Raspberry Leaf (eases inflammation).

SUPPLEMENTS: Milk Thistle extract (liver cleanser, fertility support), Chaste berry extract (hormone balancer).

ACTIVITY: Energy is HIGH.
Go for Lagree, HIIT Training, boxing, or running.

LUTEAL: Days 21-30
Low estrogen, high progesterone, bloating, cramps, breast tenderness/swelling, headaches, water retention, food cravings, etc.

FOODS: Complex carbs (rice, potatoes, oats), greens, seeds.

HERBS: Chasteberry (balancer & lengthens luteal phase), Ginger (warms body, digestive aid, detoxifier), Burdock root (removes excess hormones, liver cleanser).

SUPPLEMENTS: Vitamin E (+blood blow, esp good for those w/PCOS), B6 (reduces PMS symptoms, boosts fertility), Ginkgo Balboa extract (+blood flow, relaxes muscles), White Willow extract (natural pain relief & anti inflammatory), Holy basil (mood enhancer), Ashwagandha (balances stress & energy levels)

ACTIVITY: Energy begins to drop.
Avoid fasting during this phase, & focus on nutrition & supplementation.
Low impact exercise like yoga, swimming, incline/outdoor walks, and classical pilates.

THIS IS SO MUCH TO KEEP UP WITH EVERY MONTH, KENNY

I know. It’s no wonder they were too lazy to teach us. (I’m sure that wasn’t it, lol)

Look, I guess this is a good time as any to mention that I’m not an Endocrinologist. I’m not a dietician nor am I circus performer. Shocker. (But I do work in the healthcare field – so I have credible sources to bounce off of and challenge from time to time..)

I am, your guinea pig. The person who probably cares too much about your wellbeing and mine combined. Hours of rabbit hole research for years on end. Asking the hard, uncomfortable questions to the right people…and sometimes the wrong ones.

So hear me out:

I don’t think the solution is taking 100 herbs & supplements and being perfectly regimented every month in order to thrive as a woman.

But I think this is a good start to becoming more integrated with our bodies. Know what to expect and when, what will trigger you and what will comfort you.

Two things I’m testing right now to avoid having to take those 100 bajillion herbs & supplements:

Güüt’s Hormone Sync, is a formula developed to regulate & balance female hormones and support PMS through a blend of herbs that work powerfully over time.

Founder, Nutritionist, and friend, Sabrina Scovino, has gathered a list of herbs we discussed above (and many we did not!) in her formula.

Seeing as though this is not an overnight magical liquid, and I’ve only taken it for two weeks, I have nothing to share so far other than, what I know to be true:

– It is naturally sweet, so it’s easy to take alone or in my morning drink & it doesn’t break your fast.

– I am getting 7 magic herbs pushed directly into my bloodstream that I would otherwise have to take in the form of 7 pills or 7 other ways. (I’m all about convenience)

– As we write, I am currently in my luteal phase, where I usually experience a lot of water retention and bloating. And so far, I have neither.

I will report back with updates as the weeks progress!

Dr. Sari is board-certified holistic internist who is highly regarded for her work in evidence-based holistic medicine.

Her team reached out to me several months ago when I was doing research on cycle syncing and sharing my curiosities with you all on socials – asking if I would be interested in testing their Lunar Sync, cycle syncing product with no strings attached, for 3 months.

I am closing out month 2, and this is what I know to be true:

– This is a formula that changes with you. So it takes the stress off of me having to remember what to take and when.

– 1 capsule a day, it’s labeled, it’s fool-proof and all of the supporting education to know what each capsule contains is there.

– It is 100% natural. It’s made in the USA. It’s Woman made and Woman owned.

– 60 days in. I’ve experienced 2 periods on it and my symptoms reduced by about 30% in month 1, and 50% in month 2. I will report back after month 3.

The bad news is I don’t have a promo code for you yet because I’m still testing the product & want to get through the full 3-month experience before I set my feedback in stone (you guys know how I roll).

The good news, I love what I’m feeling so far with both products.
I love seeing women change this industry in ways that change with us.

If you got this far, I hope you were able to take something of value with you, that will bring you closer to feeling good, more often.

We deserve that much – I mean, we do have the ability to create human life and all…no big deal.

Happier you’re here,
Kenny
